Devils take down Geneseo

FREDONIA, N.Y. — The Fredonia State women's basketball team took a big step towards its post-season push, dropping Geneseo, 61-56, on Tuesday. Geneseo entered the game with a 10-2 conference ledger, among the top teams in the SUNYAC. Though never pulling away, the Devils either led or the game it was tied aside for Geneseo's early 2-0 lead.

Sarah Seaman came up clutch for the Devils, shooting a perfect 5-5 from three-point range, finishing with 15 points. Grace Alexander and Mary Culeton each scored 11. Culeton also led the Devils with six rebounds and seven assists.

Geneseo was paced by Kerry Dennin with 19 points and Kiley Snow with 16. 

A layup by Dennin with 40 seconds left tied the game at 54-all. The Devils closed out the game outscoring Geneseo, 7-2. All seven points came form the free throw line for the Devils.

The Devils shot 45 percent from the floor while holding Geneseo to 33 percent shooting. 

The win improves the Devils' record to 4-8 in the SUNYAC and 9-10 overall.

Geneseo falls to 10-3 in conference play, and 15-5 overall.

The Devils return home this weekend when they play host to a women's/men's doubleheader vs. Buffalo State. Actoin begins a 2 p.m. in Dods Hall.
