[Women's Basketball] Red Wolves Use Big Second Quarter to Defeat Brescia

RICHMOND, Ind. – After a sluggish first quarter, the IU East women's basketball team took care of business as they defeated Brescia 79-62 Saturday. Kennedy Griffin led the team with 20 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds. Addie Brown added 14 points. The Red Wolves shot just 35 percent from the field but outrebounded the Bearcats 59-52. With the score knotted at 21-21 after the first 10 minutes, the Red Wolves outscored the Bearcats 24-8 in the second. IUE used a 21-4 run to put themselves ahead by 17 points with 1:37 to play in the half. In the third, the Red Wolves went on another run, this time a 9-3 run to start the second half. They grew their lead to its largest of the second half at 22 points. The closest the Bearcats would get in the second half was 15 points as the Red Wolves were able to coast to the victory. IUE will travel to IU Southeast on Tuesday with playoff implications on the line. The Red Wolves sit third currently in the RSC standings, while IU Southeast is right behind in fourth. The Grenadiers defeated the Red Wolves in late December 80-75.
