[Women's Basketball] Sluggish Fourth Quarter Hands Saints the Loss

Gary, Ind. The Holy Cross women's basketball team continued their conference play today, when they traveled to Indiana University Northwest to take on the Red Hawks. The Saints struggled offensively in today's game shooting 36% from the field and 19% from three-point range, but the Saints defense was causing problems for the Red Hawks early in the game. Carly Spradling found her shot early in the first quarter with six points and the Saints defense was solid. The Saints would take a 13-11 lead going into the second. In the second, Lauren Morris stepped up with eight points in the quarter and hit two three pointers in the process. The Saints shot well in the second quarter and were able to extend the lead to 30-25 heading into halftime. In the third quarter, the Saints struggled from the perimeter and would lead to them losing the quarter 18-13. The Red Hawks would even up the score 43-43 going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Saints offensive struggles continued while the Red Hawks got hot and would outscore the Saints 27-13 in the fourth. The Saints never got their offense going in today's game and would go on to lose 70-56. With the loss, Holy Cross drops to 13-11 overall and 8-8 in conference play, while the Red Hawks improve to 18-5 and 13-2.
