[Women's Basketball] Tigers third quarter burst not enough against UPike

Georgetown College women's basketball came off the emotion of Senior Day slow and University of Pikeville took advantage Saturday. The Bears (12-6, 8-6) raced out to a 15-0 lead. The Tigers (3-8, 2-7) scratched and clawed, but came up short in a 64-53 loss. The real momentum for a comeback started when Madison Darnell scored and was fouled. She missed her free throw and as the only Tiger in the area – the rest were back on defense – she slashed through four Bear defenders to grab the offensive rebound. She got a stick back and another foul for a very unique four-point play. This ignited an 11-0 run and after a turnover Georgetown had the ball down six. Unfortunately, the Tigers turned it over and a basket by UPike started a 7-0 run to finish the third quarter.
