[Women's Basketball] First Half Drought Downs Women's Basketball

Doane Women's Basketball hosted Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday for their first game of the new year. The Tigers led 13-11 in the first quarter before DWU went on a 13-0 run to take the lead. Doane was unable to catch up after that, dropping the game 80-42.Madison Davis (SO/Yutan, Neb.) led Doane with 13 points and five steals. Davis shot 4-of-5 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free-throw line. Haylee Heits (SR/Rulo, Neb.) and Sydney Roth (SO/Deshler, Neb.) recorded 10 points apiece. Roth recorded Doane's lone three-pointer of the game (1-of-11), though two other 3-point attempts were ruled 2-pointers on the court. Azallee Johnson (JR/Tacoma, Wash.) led the team with six rebounds. As a team, Doane shot 33-percent from the field and 75-percent from the charity stripe.Dakota Wesleyan was led by Haidyn Pitsch with 23 points and five steals. Two other DWU Tigers finished in double digits, Jada Campbell with 16 and Rynn Osthus with 10.  Kaylee Kirk finished with a team-high nine rebounds, nine assists and five steals. As a team, DWU shot 43-percent from the field, 7-of-28 from behind the arc (though one 3-point basket was ruled a 2-point basket), and 83-percent from the charity stripe.Doane's next game is January 6, where the Tigers will host No.14 Morningside. Tip-off is set for 6 PM in the Haddix Center.
