[Women's Basketball] Hatcliff Notches Double-Double in Women's Basketball Loss at No. 11 DWU

Doane Women's Basketball traveled north on Friday to take on No. 11 Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, S.D. Regulation was not enough for these two teams as DWU picked up a 75-69 win over the Tigers.The game opened with Doane scoring the first five points. The rest of the opener quarter saw the Tigers maintain their lead until the 2:05 mark when DWU picked up their first lead. The two teams exchanged the lead one more time and Dakota Wesleyan led 17-16 at the quarter break.In the second quarter, DWU used an 11-0 run at the midway point to take a 35-22 lead with 4:00 to play before the break. Doane scored the final four points of the quarter and trailed at the break, 39-30.A 10-2 run by the Tigers midway through the third quarter cut the deficit to four points, 50-46. DWU would extend their lead before the final quarter as they led 56-49 going into the final 10 minutes of regulation.Doane pulled even at the 6:25 mark, 59-all, as the Tigers used a 10-3 run to open the quarter. DWU came back to score the next five points with Doane out-scoring their host, 6-1, in the final 99 seconds of regulation to send the game to overtime, tied at 65-all.In overtime, Dakota Wesleyan scored on four free throws to take the lead. Doane came back with a basket and two free throws to tie the game at 69-all. DWU finished the game with two baskets and two free throws to close out the scoring.Mak Hatcliff (SO/Beatrice, Neb.) led all scorers with 26 points while pulling in a game-high 11 rebounds. Macy Holtz (SO/Plainview, Minn.) added 20 points and Megan Chambers (FR/Omaha, Neb.) finished with 12 points. Kali Staples (SO/Broken Bow, Neb.) dished out a game-high six assists.DWU had three players in double figures as well, led by Isabel Ihnen with 21 points. Matti Reiner added 19 points and Aspen Hansen finished with 11 points.Doane will venture further north on Saturday, December 3, as they take on Jamestown at 1 PM.
