[Women's Basketball] Jamestown Finds Shooting Touch Versus Women's Basketball

Doane Women's Basketball dropped a 96-56 game at Jamestown on Saturday as the Tigers were forced to play without their top two scorers for most of the game.Midway through the opening quarter, Doane and Jamestown were tied 9-9. The Jimmies' points came on three 3-point baskets while the Tigers scored on one 3-point basket, two baskets in the lane, and a pair of free throws. Over the next two minutes of play, the teams would exchange the lead five times, trading baskets. The Jimmies led 19-16 after the first quarter.The Tigers would be without the services of Mak Hatcliff (SO/Beatrice, Neb.) and Macy Holtz (SO/Plainview, Minn.) for the majority of the final three quarters as they were limited to a combined 21 minutes of play. The duo had been averaging 47 points per game over the previous four games but finished with seven points in their limited time.Olivia Nall (JR/Tilden, Neb.) and Megan Chambers (FR/Omaha, Neb.) tried to pick up the difference, scoring 11 of the team's 13 points in the second quarter. Unfortunately, a 14-1 run by Jamestown would push a lead to 20 points. Doane trailed 47-29 at the break. The third quarter would see two double-digit Jimmie runs that the Tigers were unable to overcome and the deficit was pushed to 39 points going into the final quarter.Doane opened the final quarter with three-point plays from Chambers and Nall which set the Tigers up for a 15-5 run over the opening four minutes. Jamestown would have a 10-0 run to end the game.Chambers and Nall finished with 13 points apiece to lead the Tigers. Rylie Rice (FR/Chapman, Neb.) collected team-highs with eight rebounds and four assists while Boston Boucher (SO/Wood River, Neb.) had a team-leading three steals in the game.A night after shooting 22-percent (6-of-27) from behind the arc against Hastings, the Jimmies shot 46-percent and hit 19 3-point baskets. Sarah Lenz hit seven 3-point baskets and finished with 21 points off the bench. Lenz has an apparent fondness for playing the Tigers in Jamestown, hitting six 3-point baskets last year in her rookie campaign.Doane will have a busy week ahead with three games coming up. The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, December 7, as they take on College of Saint Mary at 6 PM in Crete.
