[Women's Basketball] Women's Basketball Downed By No. 14 Mustangs

Doane Women's Basketball hosted No. 14 Morningside on Wednesday night in the Haddix Center. The Mustangs jumped to a 22-11 lead after the first quarter and the Tigers were unable to take back control of the game, falling 72-49. Doane's record falls to 4-11 overall and 2-10 in conference play.The Tigers were led by Sydney Roth (SO/Deshler, Neb.) with 18 points. Ashley Teten (SO/Auburn, Neb.) led the team with eight rebounds while also adding seven points. Ragan Nickless (JR/Imperial, Neb.) was 2-of-3 from 3-point range as she recorded eight points. Madison Davis (SO/Yutan, Neb.) finished with a team-high five assists. As a team, Doane shot 30-percent from the field, 23-percent from 3-point range and 57-percent from the free-throw line.The Mustangs were led by Sophia Peppers with 12 points and nine rebounds. Sierra Mitchell added 10 points. Morningside had seven players score five or more points in the game. As a team, the Mustangs shot 33-percent from the field while collecting 19 assists on 22 made shot attempts, 27-percent from three-point range and 91-percent from the free-throw line.Doane will be back in action on January 9 when they travel to Briar Cliff in Sioux City, Iowa. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM and fans must purchase tickets through the Briar Cliff website prior to Saturday.
