[Women's Basketball] Women's Basketball Wins GPAC Opener

Doane Women's Basketball opened conference play on Saturday as they hosted Mount Marty (S.D.). The Tigers outscored the Lancers in each quarter as they rolled to an 86-53 win to improve to 3-0 on the season.Trailing 4-2, Doane went on a 13-0 run as Mak Hatcliff (SO/Beatrice, Neb.) scored seven points. Doane led 20-11 at the quarter break as Libby Trausch (FR/Juniata, Neb.) hit a 3-point basket as the opening 10 minutes concluded. In the second quarter, a 17-6 run would allow the Tigers to push their lead to 22 points. The Lancers hit a 3-point basket to close the scoring in the half and Doane took a 44-25 lead into the break.The third quarter was the closest in terms of score as the Tigers outscored Mount Marty, 21-17. The Lancers pulled to within 15 points, 57-42, with 2:39 to play in the quarter. Doane closed the quarter with an 8-0 run as Hatcliff hit three free throws with 0.3 left on the clock as she was fouled while attempting a shot from half court. Doane's largest lead of the game came in the fourth quarter with 35 seconds to play when Trausch converted a three-point play to give the Tigers a 35-point advantage.For the game, Hatcliff led all scorers with 33 points. She was 9-of-15 from the floor, 4-of-6 behind the arc, and 11-of-11 at the free throw line. Kali Staples (SO/Broken Bow, Neb.) scored 14 points, hitting 6-of-12 from the floor. Rylie Rice (FR/Chapman, Neb.) came off the bench to post nine points and a game-high eight rebounds. Boston Boucher (SO/Wood River, Neb.) had a game-high six assists for the Tigers. Macy Holtz (SO/Plainview, Minn.) and Hatcliff led the team with three steals apiece.For the game, Doane shot 46.2-percent from the floor while hitting 11-of-30 from behind the arc. The Tigers were 15-of-17 from the free throw line.Mount Marty shot 33.3-percent from the floor, hitting 7-of-28 from 3-point range.  They were 6-of-13 at the free throw line. Kiara Berndt led the Lancers with 16 points and Eve Miller finished with 10.The Tigers will host Hastings on Wednesday, November 16, at 6 PM in Crete.
